The lovely village of Bourg-St-Pierre, located in Switzerland, is filled with charm and lots of history. Visit the ancient buildings and know more about the legacies left behind by travelers from the past. Walk among the walls that witnesses of legend and history, which tell about the time of Hannibal and the Roman Empire, about Napoleon and the pilgrims, and about many others who have travelled across St.Bernard’s Pass.

If it’s summer it is time for a hike! In Bourg-St-Pierre there are lots of hiking possibilities and what’s more you can try a special and unique sport called rap jumping. For more adrenaline join the mountain bikers, rock climbers or canyoners. Walk down the cultural route of Via Francigena and the ancient path of pilgrimage to Rome, which was made by Archbishop Sigeric.

Visit the monument building at Grand Saint Bernard Pass which was established by Saint Benard more than a thousand years ago. Today this monument has great value and importance to many travelers. Learn more about the well known Saint Bernard dogs who contributed to the fame and status of the monument. The most famous of them was called Barry, a dog that saved many human lives. These dogs did their job every day fulfilling their duties: cleared the paths for the guides no matter what the weather was. We also recommend you to visit the surrounding museums, the treasure house and the kennels at the Pass. The Pass can be visited from June to October.

Winter activities

The village of Bourg-St-Pierre has lots to offer in the winter season as well. Visit the snow garden and have a nice walk or enter the ski schools and learn its in and outs. Join a group for winter walking. Follow the guide to the Pass and let yourself be enchanted by the beauty of Bourg-St-Pierre and its surrounding region.

Even during the winter season the legendary hospice can be visited, do not miss out! Set out from the town center, walk along the snowshoe trails and admire the heart of local nature. You can visit with family or friends and spend a splendid winter holiday at Bourg-St-Pierre. Do not hesitate, have a real Swiss experience!
