Top summer and winter activities in Anzére, Valais

In the beautiful region of Valais, above the Valley of Rhone lies on a sunny terrace the town of Anzére. The town is located about 15 km from the canton’s capital, Sitten. In the 60’s Anzére started out as a winter sports center because of its amazing views over the Valais Alps and the Rhone Valley. Nevertheless not only the winter season reserves adventures and fun for the visitors of Anzére. In the summer there are several hiking and walking tours. Find accommodation at one of the resorts or huts in the countryside of central Valais and set out to discover and explore the pine forests, mountains and valleys of the region.

Summer season activities

Set out on a three-hour long tour from the town of Anzére and explore the walking trails as you stroll towards reservoir at Tseuzier. The mountain paths lead you to a height above 3000 meters to the Wildhorn Glacier. In the summer you can go mountain biking. The region has five routes for mountain bikers. You can also go climbing, hang-gliding, play mini-golf and visit the giant playground for children. For a more relaxed vacationers there’s fishing and riding, or you can play tennis, visit the vine cellars around Anzére and at the end of the day try the thermal baths.

Winter season

If you prefer winter sports we suggest you visit during the winter holidays and swish down with a high speed from an altitude of 2500 meters. There are several courses and trails and 12 lifts to take you to the top. Grab your skis, snowboards and winter boots and have fun in the snow. There’s a separate toboggan run and trails for winter hiking and snowshoe walking. At Anzére you can warm up with a glass of mulled wine and have fun together with your friends and family.

Other activities in Anzére

Anzére is not only for sports enthusiasts. If you are more of a culture and relaxing kind of person you can choose from many other activities. You can visit the reservoir at Tseuzier or and its beautiful and lovely lake, Grande Dixence Reservoir in Hérménence Valley or soak up some culture, try the best wines and have a day out in Sitten. Visit the largest underground karst lake of the European continent: Lac Souterrain de St.Léonard. For nature lovers we recommend the primeval forest, a nature reservation in Deborence with lots of pine trees and rocky valleys.
